The Detective Department (DD) team conducted a raid at White House Building on Iron Gate Road under Garden Reach Police Station, uncovering an illegal call centre involved in suspected cyber fraud. Four individuals were arrested, and authorities seized approximately ₹1.18 crore in cash, gold ornaments, multiple laptops, routers, and several incriminating documents.
The operation was carried out based on Cyber PS GDE No. 624, dated 25.02.2025, leading to the registration of a case under Sections 66, 66C, 66D, and 43 of the IT Act, along with Sections 61(2), 319(2), 318(4), 336(2), 336(3), 338, and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). All four arrested individuals will be produced before the Court of the Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate (C.J.M.), Calcutta, today. The police will seek custody of the accused to further investigate the extent of their operations, financial transactions, and any potential links to larger cybercrime networks.
Investigators are examining the seized electronic devices and documents for evidence related to fraudulent activities, unauthorized transactions, and possible data breaches. Officials are also verifying whether the operation was connected to other similar rackets in the city or beyond. The crackdown comes as part of ongoing efforts to curb cybercrime and illegal call centres operating within Kolkata. Law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring financial activities linked to suspected cyber fraud networks.
